Astrid Layton is an assistant professor at Texas A&M University in the Mechanical Engineering department and received her Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Layton is an expert on bio-inspired system design, with a focus on the use of biological ecosystems as inspiration for achieving sustainability and resilience through the design of complex human networks and systems. Examples include industrial resource networks, power grids, supply chains, innovation networks, and water distribution networks.
