Bio: Major Shirey received his commission in 2010, after completing Officer Training School. He has extensive experience as an engineer and program manager with the Air Force’s premier air-to-air weapons, Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) electronic warfare, software development, cyber warfare, and ISR capabilities. He also served as Executive Officer for the 205-member joint $20B Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) Program. Further, he led the F-35 Mission Data Test Software Team. Most recently, Major Shirey served as the Chief Engineer of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensors Directorate Advanced Programs Branch. In this role, Major Shirey led the technical planning, implementation, and steering of the 32-person branch responsible for conducting $409M ISR sensors research and development. Major Shirey completed his Master of Science degree in computer engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), graduating in the top 10% of students. His research was presented in a nationally acclaimed conference and he was selected as the President of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society. He was selected to the United States Air Force Academy PhD Faculty program and is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Engineering at Purdue University.
