Dr. Armand Chaput

Dr. Chaput has been teaching capstone aircraft system engineering design since 2008. His interests are in overall air vehicle and system related subjects with a focus on UAS. He is Director of the Lockheed Martin sponsored Aircraft System Laboratory and faculty advisor for the UT AIAA Design-Build-Fly (DBF) and Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) small UAS student teams as well as for Women In Aerospace Leadership Development (WIALD).
He is the 2003 recipient of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Clarence L. (Kelly) Johnson Aerospace Vehicle Design and Development Award and a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is a former member of the AUVSI Board of Trustees and US Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. He is an Emeritus Senior Technical Fellow from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Fort Worth where he was a member of the Air System Design and Integration technical staff. Lockheed Martin and predecessor company assignments included F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Chief Engineer - Weight, Chief Engineer - National Aerospace Plane Program and General Dynamics Fort Worth Manager of Advanced Design.
Dr. Chaput is an active instrument rated pilot and certificated flight instructor.
