SERC UPDATES – August 2023

Dear Colleagues,
Fifteen years ago, the Department of Defense established the Systems Engineering Research Center as the first networked University Affiliated Research Center (UARC). In an INCOSE article republished below, SERC leaders past and present reflected on early challenges and growth in impact, with insights to encourage success for new and other network-based university research centers.
My colleagues and I are excited for a busy fall. On September 6, Dr. Heidi Davidz will lead our next SERC Talk in our “Celebrating Systems Engineering Digitalization” series. Our annual AI4SE & SE4AI workshop will take place in-person on September 27-28, with a virtual version on October 11-12. On November 14-15, we will host our SERC Doctoral Student Forum and signature SERC Research Review. We hope to see you at these gatherings to help us advance the field of systems engineering.
Sincerely,
Dinesh Verma
Executive Director
