Naval Digital/Systems Engineering Transformation (D/SET) Brown Bag Series: Skyzer Surrogate Pilot MBSE Cost Model Use Case and Model Tour Demo
The Naval Digital / Systems Engineering Transformation (D/SET) Working Group, chartered by the Department of Navy (DON) Systems Engineering Stakeholders Group as outlined in the Naval D/SET Strategy holds regular ‘brown bag lunch’ presentation series. These “brown bags” offer model-based systems engineering training opportunities to over 3500 participants from across the Department of Defense (DoD). Depending on the subject matter, these sessions can allow a public audience. For this public session on Tuesday, September 14th, the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) is partnering with the Naval D/SET to host the “Skyzer Surrogate Pilot MBSE Cost Model Use Case and Model Tour Demo” presented by: Dr. Mark Blackburn, SERC/Stevens Institute of Technology; Don Allen, NAVAIR and Taylor Fields, SERC/Georgia Tech.
Abstract
This brown bag session discusses the development and evolution of the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Cost Model. As shown in the figure below this is an example of a Stakeholder Analysis Model for Cost Modeling. We will discuss several use cases starting from a reference Cost Model and create a specific instance of a Cost Model that maps Skyzer System and Contractor/RFP Response Models information to the Cost Model schema. We discuss how we can leverage the Authoritative Source of Truth for extending models that need to satisfy specific stakeholder concerns (e.g., Cost, Airworthiness, Cyber), but directly link back to the key technical information that is in the “Full Stack” of Skyzer models using Project Usages.
We are also going to provide a tour through the Skyzer Cost Model, which will show navigation and alignment to the AURA Cost Model. We will show scenarios for a cost roll-up pattern, report generation, and mechanisms that allow subject matter experts to cost values through using Export/Import spreadsheet that are synchronized back into the Cost Model.
