Abstract
Many Government sponsors rely on Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) as a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) and trusted advisor to provide critical contributions to critical challenges. One such challenge that spans many of APL’s sponsor organizations is that of Digital Engineering (DE). While the general concept and benefits of DE are relatively well known across the sponsor communities, the task of planning, designing, and implementing DE capabilities can be daunting. APL is currently assisting several sponsors in the application of DE for their respective programs and this presentation covers several illustrative examples. Additionally, the end of this presentation lists several challenges and recommendations based on APL’s experiences with DE.
