Dr. Buettner joined SERC’s Acquisition Innovation Research Center in 2023. His AIRC research produced reports on improving acquisition decision making through data modeling, using the middle tier of acquisitions for production, and a nine-part series in support of the Commission on Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) Reform. In addition to his work in defense acquisition, Dr. Buettner is a board member of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies and regularly comments as an expert on unidentified anomalous phenomena, such as questionable drone sightings.
