There have also been over 20 courses at SERC Collaborating Universities that have incorporated SERC methods, processes, tools, and research. A few examples are shown below.
System of Systems Modeling and Analysis PURDUE UNIVERSITY
AAE 560 COURSE NAME: System of Systems Modeling and Analysis
The primary focus of this course is on understanding, modeling, and analyzing an emerging class of problems called system-of-systems. In general, these problems are large-scale and interdisciplinary, since they involve systems and behaviors found in diverse fields such as engineering, economics, social science, policy, etc. The course presents recent developments in addressing system-of-systems problems, describes criteria, lexicon, and analysis methodology for their study, and, through team projects, allows students to explore the unknowns that remain in this emerging field. Applications for team projects will include national transportation systems, space exploration endeavors, and defense challenges, though others are possible in consultation with instructor.
Systems Engineering of Cyber-Physical Systems STEVENS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
COURSE NO.: SYS671- SYS674
Systems Engineering of Cyber-Physical Systems
The Systems Engineering of Embedded/Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) four-course certificate program has been designed to provide engineers with systems engineering skills such that they can be effective in small, agile teams in the development of such systems. This certificate provides students with a solid foundation in the fundamentals and practical use of tools for the conception, design,
implementation and sustainment of embedded
and CPS from a systems perspective using an
integrated, intensive team-based project experience throughout the life cycle. The skills obtained will be applicable to the systems engineering of systems in other domains, but are focused on systems with the attributes of embedded and cyber-physical systems.
SYS 671 Conception of Cyber-Physical Systems
SYS 672 Design of Cyber-Physical Systems
SYS 673 Implementation of Cyber-Physical Systems
SYS 674 Sustainment of Cyber-Physical Systems
Quantitative Methods in Systems Engineering MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Quantitative Methods in Systems Engineering comprises the Architecture and Systems Engineering Professional Certificate Program. Students learn the fundamentals of quantitative methods in systems engineering and determine when, where, and how to employ these methods and techniques. The curriculum provides learners with an overview of design space exploration using models, as well as methods for analyzing and presenting the output of a model.
System Architecting and Engineering UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
COURSE NAME: System Architecting and Engineering (SAE 549)
Introduction to systems architecture in aerospace, electrical, computer, and manufacturing systems emphasizing the conceptual and acceptance phases and using heuristics.
